The Belgian forward has faced a great deal of criticism in recent months, especially after the drawn-out transfer saga that saw him reportedly snub Inter and flirt with fierce rivals Juventus before eventually ending up at Roma.

Lukaku is not bothered by those who have doubted him recently, however, as he said after the game: "I am a professional, I worked in the summer. Many people have talked about my condition, but I don't speak and I demonstrate (my ability) on the field."

Lukaku will hope to continue his excellent Serie A form after the international break when his side face Monza on October 22.
